Reverend Virginia Ver Eecke

LCSW- Interfaith Minister Brooklyn

Ordained Interfaith Minister

My desire is to work together with you to develop and design a ceremony that expresses your love and commitment to each other. As we work together in developing your wedding service, it is your words and heart-filled beliefs that will be incorporated into your wedding ceremony. As an Interfaith Minister, I perform ceremonies that reflect all religious beliefs, as well as non-denominational, traditional and civil rituals.

Brooklyn LGBT Marriage Ceremonies

You have come to the place in your relationship that you are sure of your love for each other and want to bring that love to a different level of commitment… a commitment to love each other for as long as you shall live, wanting to celebrate and publicly let your family, friends and the world know of your love.

The next step is to commit your love through a wedding ceremony.

Reverend Virginia's Role at Your Wedding

I will work with you to create your own meaningful and unique ceremony that expresses your love, your tradition, and your spiritual practice. I also perform non-religious ceremonies.

Before I begin to work on the writing of the ceremony, I will meet with you so that we may get to know each other. I will also begin to gather some basic information about you, your family, and any ideas and plans you may have. After that, we will meet as needed.

Some of the areas we may work on together are:

We will Create a Ceremony that is Meaningful & Unique to You

Our goal is to create a ceremony that is meaningful, unique to you, and express your love for each other, and the fullness of your commitment as witnessed by those present.

It is my hope that your ceremony will set the road for your life together.

The Couple’s Tao Te Ching

Your love contains the power of a thousand suns. It unfolds as naturally and effortlessly as does a flower and graces the world with its blooming. Because of you, compassion and joy are added to the world. That is why the stars shine together because of your love.

Rev. Virginia Ver Eecke, LCSW,  Ordained Interfaith Minister

My travels along the path to a God/Spirit have been both exciting and difficult. I was first exposed to formal religion in growing up in a Catholic home. Gratefully, I learned from my family that God/Jesus/Mary loved me.

I earned my BA in Psychology. In my third year of college, I received a scholarship to study Spanish at Xavier University in Bogotá, Columbia. It was an experience that radically changed my life.

Seeing real poverty ripped my heart apart. It was then, that I heard a call to religious life and became a Franciscan Sister of the Poor with the hope of ending poverty in the world. I applied for and won a full scholarship and stipend to attend Fordham University Graduate School of Social Work, and graduated with honors.

I worked for many years with the poor as a Social Worker and as a Franciscan Sister of the Poor. I went back to graduate school to study Theology. This new knowledge enabled me to explore other paths to being in a relationship with God. During this journey, I left the convent. I then studied Psychotherapy, worked in mental health clinics and started a private psychotherapy practice.

I continued on the path, feeling lost in the Catholic Church, and finally came full circle and landed at One Spirit Interfaith Seminary. After three years of study, I was ordained as an Interfaith Minister.

After being ordained, I took a leap of faith and left my job to respond to this call to ministry. I am now working as an Interfaith Minister and Spiritual Director.
