Your Ceremony Your Way ~

Unity With Individuality - I will Create a Unique Ceremony Just For YOU!

Ceremonies mark passages in life. In many cultures these passages are observed with significant celebrations which include rituals, vows, and honoring of ancestors. As an ordained Life Cycle Celebrant®, graduate and faculty member of The Celebrant Foundation and Institute, I will craft a ceremony to reflect your individuality. We will work together to make YOUR ceremony exactly as YOU want it.

It will be a great privilege to craft a ceremony for you that is as unique as you are.  Your special day will reflect YOU! The words you say to each other bind you together. I believe they should be your words or words of which you approve.  You have complete approval of every word in your ceremony.

Lamira Martin Ordained Life Cycle Celebrant®

I believe that each person is a spark of God or Universal Energy. I believe there are many avenues to that source and there is not one “right” way.  Each of us is on his or her journey and all journeys are honorable.

I have a BA in Cultural Anthropology and am very interested in the ceremonies of all cultures.  I believe it is very important to celebrate the passages in life with family and friends because it connects and validates us as loving, spiritual beings.

I am a graduate and faculty member of Celebrant Foundation and Institute. I am an ordained Universal Brotherhood minister. I am open and affirming,  and I appreciate the need to come together to celebrate, mourn, comfort and support each other.

How Do Life Cycle Celebrants®, Differ from Other Officiants?

In a Life Cycle Celebrant®, Ceremony, YOU are empowered. Nothing is imposed on you. Instead, in a collaborative process, the Celebrant will guide you in choosing rituals, readings, symbols and music to fulfill YOUR ideals.

As Your Celebrant Lamira Martin will:

  • Meet with you at a relaxing interview to discuss your vision of the ceremony
  • Consult with you by phone and email until the ceremony is just right
  • Interview family and friends, with your permission, and include their words and participation in the ceremony
  • Rehearse the ceremony with you and your party
  • Present you with a beautiful keepsake copy of the ceremony to mark the occasion

Meetings Prior to Your Ceremony

I will meet with you as many times as you want. We can also Email and chat on the phone.  I will re-write your Ceremony until it is exactly the way you want it! I will bring samples of vows, readings, rituals, a ceremony structure which is a beginning.  You can change and re-arrange all of the ceremony elements.

In your folder there will also be “homework!” No grading!! You will each get a questionnaire to fill out that will help me to get to know you better. You can tell me about how you met and fell in love, what you love about each other, and your future plans. I will write your ceremony from your own words.

Ceremony Rehearsal

Rehearsals are a wonderful way to ensure that everyone will know what they are suppose to do for your big day, but this is up to you.  How long are rehearsals? The actual rehearsal usually lasts about 20 – 30 minutes. Please allow about 30 minutes for your wedding party to arrive and have a little time to chat before the rehearsal begins.

Your Ceremony

I will arrive at your ceremony location 30 minutes prior to the scheduled start time. Ceremonies vary from 2 minutes to 30 minutes and above. If needed, I will help to calm nervous participants before the ceremony. I will be available to participants and guests following your ceremony.
