Beggars Banquet provides fine food and exceptional service for catered events. Our commitment to detail and the relationships we form with customers are at the heart of every event we cater. Our Philosophy

Orange, Virginia is a beautiful place. We live here, raise our children here and most importantly, cook here. Beggars Banquet is the result of the dream of two friends, a former Restaurateur and a former Chef.

All of our menus are customized to your event, using locally grown or raised ingredients whenever possible. From delivered boxed lunches and business meetings to served and staffed on-site parties and formal weddings, we strive to provide the best food at the most reasonable cost.

Our Staff

Beggars Banquet co-owners, Marty Van Santvoord and Currey Hay, coordinate all menu and event planning as well as all food preparation. We are prepared for any event with our solid, committed staff. We are at your service...professional and fun!

Elegantly Appointed Settings

Cooking is our first love but anyone who knows us can tell you that arranging for party rentals is an integral part of our catering business. We are happy to assist you and/or your caterer with your tabletop rental and equipment needs.

Every order is important to us – whether for tabletop rentals only or a full service catering and rental event. Our knowledgeable staff will be happy to assist you over the phone or set up a consultation to go over your rental needs in depth.

Wine Shop and Retail

Catering is our major focus and love, but we are always growing. In the spring of 2007 we ventured into the retail arena with our market. Our historic brick building which originally housed the People’s Grocery Warehouse in the early 1900’s was a natural backdrop for our gourmet groceries. From homemade frozen entrees, hors d’oeuvres, sorbets and burritos to local Higginbotham grass fed beef, imported cheeses, breads, oils, pastas and sauces, we provide our customers the convenience of shopping for these items locally rather than making the drive to Charlottesville or Fredericksburg. We also have brought in a fine assortment of drip less candles, cocktail napkins, bar supplies and other entertaining accessories.

In 2008 we added wine and beer, a natural addition to beggars fare. We offer a broad range of French wines as well as selections from Argentina, Australia, Europe, New Zealand and South Africa, California and Virginia, as well as specialty beers. We provide a 10% discount on mixed cases and 15% on full cases. We offer featured wines monthly at deeper discounts (10% per bottle and 20% per full case) introduced at our wine tastings by winemakers, distributors and other specialists. Tastings usually take place on the third Friday of the month from 4:30-7pm and are free and open to the public. Continually adding new selections to our wine and beer selections, we are happy to place special orders for both upon request.
