
About The Cake Works Bakery
Formerly Mary Catherines Bakery, Cake Works opened in July 2008 by well
known Cake Artist and Pastry Chef Abigail Langlas, who specializes in
custom wedding cakes and specialty cakes.
With over 18 years experience in the field of pastry and cake design,
Chef Abigail’s aim at Cake Works is to create a custom cake based on
each customer’s innate style that tastes as good as it looks.

As well as specialty cakes, Cake Works is also a full scale bakery,
dessert and pastry shop offering a wide variety of gourmet desserts,
cookies, cupcakes, and small delicacies daily. With a lovely outdoor
cafe and walk up window, you can stop by anytime for breakfast pastries
or to satisfy your sweet tooth.
Celebrity Pastry Chefs
Chef Abigail Langlas is the chef/owner of
Cake Works, and is a designer of custom cakes and fine delicacies for all
occasions. She is also the former pastry chef for the award-winning
Honolulu Coffee Company. She also was the pastry chef and Chef Alan
Wong’s flagship restaurant in Honolulu. As pastry chef, she created
beautiful signature desserts that remain among the most popular menu
items. While at Alan Wong’s, Chef Abi had the pleasure of working
alongside such acclaimed chefs as Thomas Keller (The French Laundry and
Per Se), Nancy Silverton (Campanile and La Brea Bakery) and Stephen
Durfee (CIA Chef Instructor and former executive pastry chef of The
French Laundry), at prestigious food festivals and special events
nationwide.
A native of Hilo, Hawai’i, Chef Abi’s love of the pastry arts led her to
Europe. In London, she received a Diplome Superior from L’ecole de
Cuisine Francaise de Sabine de Mirbeck and a City and Guilds Diploma in
Advanced Pastry from Westminster College, a selective training program
for working pastry chefs. Chef Abi started her career with an
apprenticeship at London’s distinguished Four Seasons Hotel. She then
went to work in Lyon, France creating desserts for the Restaurant Les
Eaux Vives at the four-star Hotel Metropole de Lyon.
Chef Nancy Remmers is the former owner of
Cake Land, she has decorated cakes for Elvis Presley and Bob Hope. Nancy is a master with butter cream and Marshmallow icing. We are so
lucky to have her.
Wedding Cakes
When you order a wedding cake from Cake Works, you are getting more than just a
cake. You are getting a delicious work of art that goes along with the
experience and dedication from one of Hawaii's most respected bakeries. The
wedding cake is the centerpiece of a wedding and should reflect the
personalities and desires of the wedding couple. That is why we like to
personally consult with every bride and couple. We work with you to find out
exactly what look, flavors, and details will create the perfect cake for your
special day.
The price of your cake is determined by many things, the most important
being the number and size of tiers as well as your design choice (choice
of flavor, custom shapes, colors, decorations, rental of fountains,
bridges or cake stands, purchase of cake toppers, frosting or hand made
sugar flowers, and delivery).
