Catering for Gay Weddings and Formal Events

Weddings and formal events should be remembered for a lifetime. We recommend a staffing ratio of 8-10 guests per server. This allows us to focus on perfecting every detail of the experience: We artfully prepare your dishes, provide attentive personal service, and keep the area immaculately clean throughout the event.

For an exceptional culinary experience, ingredients must be top quality. We buy from local farmers and use organic ingredients wherever possible. For formal events, we may have specific recommendations for ingredients, such as high grade Ahi, giant prawns, or premium local free range beef.

Plated Service for Oahu Weddings

For plated service, food is cooked a la minute, and we plate and serve all guests at once. For the same budget, plated service gives your clients less choice than food stations. Plated service has the highest staffing requirements. Plated service is a sit down meal with anywhere from 2-4 courses. With plated service, your guests don’t have to get up and go to food stations. They are waited on as they would be in a fine dining restaurant.

Food Station Service for Oahu Weddings

Food stations offer the best bang for your buck. Food stations provide entertainment and interaction, and the most selections for your guests. Staffing requirements are lower than for plated service. A food station is a station where certain items are prepared fresh. For example, carved meats may be prepared at one station, and tempura vegetables at another. Food stations provide an interactive experience where guests can watch their food being prepared, and ask questions directly to the chef.

Oahu Wedding Buffet Service

Buffet service suits low budget or last minute events. It offers your guests a variety of food selections, and has the lowest staffing requirements. Food items are prepared in advance, and served from chafing dishes. This gives your guests a selection of items, and requires minimal staffing. Buffet service is appropriate for lower budgets, or more casual events.

Chef Christian Schneider

My name is Christian Schneider and I am the chef / owner of Cater To Me. Cater To Me has been in business in Hawaii since 1986. I’m from a 3rd generation restaurant family: My father was Buzz Schneider from Buzz’s Original Steakhouse.

In 1993 I earned my Associate in Science from Culinary Institute of the Pacific. In 2000, I opened a Lucy’s restaurant in Kailua, where I’ve cooked for thousands of happy customers, including former president Bill Clinton. Lucy’s has flourished in Kailua for over 10 years.

In 2011 I sold the restaurant and decided to focus exclusively on Cater To Me. In over 25 years in business, we’ve catered to President Barack Obama, former Vice President Al Gore, and planned over 1000 weddings and upward of 1800 events.
