Key West Luxury Resort Property History

The Banyan Resort originally consisted of six homes that were constructed as private residences during the mid1800's. The individual owners of these properties decided to combine their interests in the early 1980's and convert them into "The Banyan Guest House". The guest house quickly became a popular place to stay.

However, back in those days, Key West had two distinct tourist seasons: "In" and "Off" season as referred to by the local residents. The business at The Banyan Guest House thrived during the "In" season (December April) months but was finding it very difficult to make ends meet during extremely slow "Off" season (May November) months.

A new concept of "Timesharing" was emerging in the U.S. at that time and gaining popularity. That concept proved irresistible to the owners and "The Banyan Resort" was born. Inventory quickly sold out and additional homes were erected in the late 1980's.

Accommodations with Fully Equipped Kitchens

Each suite in this tropical, historic resort has all of the comforts of home including a full kitchen complete with all of the amenities necessary to make your island escape a relaxing experience.

Rooms are bright and airy with ceiling fans, air conditioning, cable TV, IPhone/ IPod/ MP3 Docking Stations, and verandahs overlooking the luxurious grounds. Floor plans range from fully equipped Studios to One and Two Bedroom suites complete with a coffee maker, microwave and everything you need to prepare a meal at your leisure.

Two Bedroom Suites

The spacious Two bedroom suites have a Queen size bed in each bedroom and a Queen size sleeper sofa in the living room which provides comfortable accommodations for six people. The fully equipped kitchens have a dining area and each suite has a semiprivate verandah.

One Bedroom Suites

One bedroom suites have a Queen size bed as well as a Queen size sleeper sofa in the living room designed to accommodate up to four people. These spacious units have a private bath, full kitchen, comfortable living room, dining area and a patio or verandah.

Loft Suites

The distinctive Loft suites provide accommodation for up to four people and have a spiral staircase that leads to a semiprivate bedroom with a Queen size bed. There is also a Queen size sleeper sofa in the living room on the lower level. These lofts are best for couples seeking a relaxing vacation with a full kitchen, private bath and generous living and dining area.

Studio Suites

Our charming Studio units have a Queen size Murphy bed, dining area, living room and full kitchen. Studios have a sunroom, balcony, patio or verandah as well as air conditioning and a private bath.
