Reverend Terri Echelbarger is a Pastor with the Metropolitan Community Churches, a denomination that serves primarily GLBTIQQ people. Her congregation, located in San Mateo, CA., the Peninsula MCC, is a progressive, primarily Christian community that doesn't all believe the same things but just agree to travel together.
She is comfortable with mixed faith ceremonies, civil ceremonies, and loves to work with couples to design a service and language that works for them and their relationship.
She has performed primarily LGBT weddings for 10 years, including being a presence during the 2004 San Francisco wedding blitz, and on the first day (and last day) of legal weddings in CA at the Redwood City Clerks office.
Tie the knot, jump the broomstick, smash a glass, dance down the isle and have your puppy bring the rings (well, maybe not all those things in one ceremony, but, we could try...).
I truly enjoy weddings / holy unions/ handfastings and feel deeply honored when I'm invited to celebrate love with people in love.
I excel at simple and sweet but can be as complicated as as you need me to be. Your ceremony can be formal (traditional, leather or lace), or informal, high church, low church or no church. It's your ceremony, your love, your commitment. A small intimate gathering or a large one, I've done lots of both, indoors and out. Nontraditional family group? fine.
